Some purple-tastic FUNdraising from Empurple Week 2022

Empurple Week is our annual campaign which coincides with the International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations. The last couple of years have meant this campaign has looked a little different but Empurple Week 2022 has come back in a full array of purple and it has been lovely seeing so many people in the community going purple, hosting in person events, having lots of purple fun and at the same time raising vital funds and awareness.

Why purple? Purple is the colour most associated with campaigns that take a stand against domestic abuse and this year so many of you decided to stand with us and forge change for the safety and happiness of women and children. You also helped us break the bias through this year’s theme for IWD, helping us create some positive noise to cultivate change for a fairer world for women and girls.

We have seen so many purple-tastic events take place during Empurple Week – and we have collated just SOME of the purple fun below! Together those who have taken part, have raised over £1,500 – this is incredible and will make a huge difference to the lives of those we support.

Coven Mother’s Union

Coven Mothers Union hosted their fabulous purple themed Cuppa and a Cake event, which saw the village comes together at St Paul’s church and enjoy some delicious cakes and cup of tea. They also ran a raffle, games and more to help raise vital funds for those at The Haven.

Coven Mothers Union supports The Haven due to the fantastic work you all do to support and protect some of the most vulnerable people and children against acts of violence and abuse.

Metro Bank Wolverhampton

Metro Bank Wolverhampton started off the week by volunteering and painting our refuges to make them bright and welcoming for those we support and then they literally went purple for the week and wore purple to work. They also hosted a guess how many purple balloons are in the office competition, which helped raise vital funds but also awareness of our services with their customers.

I truly believe that all women and children should live freely in a world where there is no discrimination or oppression towards them. What The Haven are doing to support women and children is so inspiring, the charity work, fundraising and support you are providing is truly amazing. We as Metro Bank truly appreciate the work that you all do at The Haven, and we would love to continue to support you all and spread awareness within the community.

Metamorph

Metamorph hosted an incredible purple-themed bake sale, with some delicious purple-themed cakes on offer and they also wore a rainbow of purple colours to work, all to help raise vital funds during Empurple Week.

The Haven do some fantastic work helping people suffering with domestic violence and it’s a charity that benefits from wider support. We as a company enjoy supporting local communities and charities that provide such amazing services!

Small Wonders have supported Empurple Week for a number of years, but the pandemic sadly stopped this the last couple of years but 2022 saw them come bursting back more purple than ever! They transformed the centre with purple decorations, all the staff wore their fabulous purple wigs and they raised vital funds by asking for donations for our purple ribbons and by baking some delicious cakes. They helped to raise vital funds and awareness, with a wide audience of families across Wolverhampton that may need our support

We wanted to say the BIGGEST heartfelt thank you to you all for your support this Empurple Week and to everyone who got involved in this purple-tastic campaign. It is thanks to people like you that we can be by a woman’s side every step of the way as she braves new beginnings away from abuse -thank you all so much.

Small Wonders

Small Wonders get involved in Empurple every year because as well as creating our own community, we also like to give to the wider community & we love to support The Haven Wolverhampton, a local charity who have helped some of our Small Wonders families through incredibly difficult times.  It is a fun campaign to be involved in we love to put on silly purple wigs, decorate our centre & think of fun purple activities for the children to do.
