What is it all about?
EMPURPLE means ‘to colour or become purple’ – and that is exactly what we want YOU to do for Empurple Week by hosting purple-centric awareness and fundraising activities. Purple is the Internationally recognised colour for campaigns that provide a unified voice and take a stand against domestic abuse. Purple symbolises justice and dignity – two values strongly associated with women’s equality.
The 8th March is International Women’s Day and falls within The Haven’s Empurple Week. The theme this year is #EmbraceEquity. The day itself is a celebration observed across the world each year and recognises the economic, financial and social achievements of women, past, present and our hopes for a more equal society in the future.
By embracing Empurple Week, you will be supporting vulnerable women and children at The Haven Wolverhampton and helping us raise much needed funds to help them rebuild their lives after being subjected to domestic abuse.
Below are just some of the ways you can get involved. Any event, big or small, will go a long way in raising awareness as well as improving the lives of women and children. Thank you in advance for your support – we can’t wait to see your purple-tastic celebrations!
How you can you get involved?

Wear your purple ribbon with pride, as we celebrate women and strive to make the world a more gender-equal place for future women.

Purple-themed own-clothes day, bake sales, or Empurple assembly celebrating strong and brave women and girls in your school, community, and beyond.

Wear purple to work, purple balloons at the office, purple screen savers, and backgrounds for virtual meetings or plan a purple-themed fundraising event?

What would need to change for you to be convinced that gender equality has been achieved? Or tell us about a woman who inspires you.
Have your say…
