What is it all about?
Welcome to EMPURPLE Week 2024! From the 4th to the 10th of March, The Haven Wolverhampton invites you to join us in colouring the week purple as we align with the theme for International Women’s Day: ‘Inspire Inclusion.’
EMPURPLE – ‘to colour or become purple’ – represents the unified voice against domestic abuse, takes on new meaning this year as we embrace the theme: Inspire Inclusion. Purple, an internationally recognised colour for campaigns against domestic abuse, now symbolises not only justice and dignity but also our commitment to creating a world where every individual is valued, celebrated, and supported, irrespective of their background or identity.
We envision a world that is diverse, equitable, and free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. This year we are calling on you to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about discrimination, and collectively work towards inspiring inclusion.
Below are some ways you can actively contribute to this year’s EMPURPLE Week. Your participation in EMPURPLE Week directly supports vulnerable women and children at The Haven Wolverhampton, aiding us in raising essential funds to help them rebuild their lives after experiencing domestic abuse. So please pin your purple ribbons, bake purple cakes, blow up purple balloons, change your Teams and Zoom call backgrounds… whatever you can do to help us raise awareness and inspire inclusion, we are here for it!
How you can you get involved?
Wear your purple ribbon with pride, as we celebrate women and strive to make the world a more gender-equal place for future women.
Wear purple to work, purple balloons at the office, purple screen savers, and backgrounds for virtual meetings or plan a purple-themed fundraising event?
