Domestic Abuse Awareness e-Learning Training

Overview: This training will help everyone to better understand the realities and how domestic abuse affects adults and children.  It will update current knowledge and awareness.

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

• To develop an understanding of Domestic Abuse and what forms it can take – controlling and coercive behaviour, emotional abuse, psychological, technology, economic/financial, physical, sexual.
• An overview of other areas – forced marriage, so-called honour-based abuse, FGM.
• Awareness of any new or emerging legislation – the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.
• Be able to recognise the signs, behaviours and indicators of Domestic Abuse – who does it affect, abuse for all, different groups in society.
• Develop a better understanding of the impact of Domestic Abuse on adults and children – parental alienation, post-separation abuse, and child-to-parent abuse.
• What barriers may victims face when reporting issues and accessing support?
• How should we respond to a disclosure of domestic abuse sensitively and in a way that promotes the safety of adult victims, children and families?

This training is aimed at anyone who wants to be able to support victims/survivors of domestic abuse – in the workplace, in the community, in voluntary and statutory sectors, family, friends, neighbours.

The training is an e-learning package that will be accessed via a platform we utilise.  It includes statistics, videos, questions and answers, and will ensure information can be embedded into the support you give colleagues, family, friends and your community.
