DESCRIPTION:About this Event\n\n\nSection 76 of the Serious Crime Act 2015 came into force on 29th December 2015 and created a new offence of controlling or coercive behaviour in an intimate or family relationship. Before this offence was introduced\, case law indicated the difficulty in proving a pattern of behaviour amounting to harassment within an intimate relationship. \nOverview: This training gives practitioner’s an understanding of the dynamics of domestic abuse and coercive/ controlling behaviour. The training explores legislation and the government definition\, identifying behaviours and indicators\, examples of how coercive control can affect parenting. It explores how coercive/ controlling tactics impact on a person’s identity whilst looking at social attitudes and the law and what types of evidence are used. Using real life case studies to identify how insidious this behaviour is and equips you with strategies on how to respond sensitively to a person who is being subjected to coercive control. \nAt the end of the training participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify what the term ‘Coercive Control’ means.\nUnderstand the impact of Coercive Control on Children.\nRecognise signs and feel confident on how to ask the ‘question’ in a way that promotes safety.\nIdentify examples of evidence and where the offence applies.\nLocate support that is available for anyone who is being subjected to coercive controlling behaviours.\n\nThis training is aimed at any professional whose work brings them into contact with victims and perpetrators of controlling and coercive behaviour from the voluntary\, statutory\, and private sectors e.g.\, Specialist Domestic Abuse agencies\, Refuge staff\, Social Care\, Housing Officers\, Education\, Police\, Health and Social Care Providers\, Academic Support\, Criminal Justice Services\, Family Justice Services\, Private Fostering. \nThe training is a recognised CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Training. DESCRIPTION:About this Event\n\n\nThe webinar will provide attendees with information and guidance on Domestic Abuse\, provide a safe space for discussions and provide follow-up information that can be utilised after the training. \nThe course covers a wide range of topics such as: \n• Types of domestic violence and abuse. \n• Risk factors for Domestic Abuse. \n• Key principles for helping victims. \n• The impact of Domestic Abuse on Children\, Young People and Adults at Risk. \n• Barriers to seeking help\, and how to address them. \nThe training will enable you to better understand the realities and prevalence of domestic abuse\, using statistics\, legislation and the government definition. \nIt explores the nature of domestic abuse and enables you to identify behaviours\, recognise signs and how this behaviour impacts the victim using real life case studies. \nIt explores the effects domestic abuse has on children and identifies the societal myths to understand the barriers that stand in the way of a person leaving an abusive relationship. \nYou will be able to develop strategies to respond sensitively and confidently to a person who is being subjected to Domestic Abuse and know how to source the appropriate support. \nThe training is written at an introductory level and is suitable for EVERYONE. It will be beneficial for employees\, managers\, people who feel they may know someone being subjected to domestic abuse\, individuals who feel they may need support or someone considering how they can implement domestic abuse knowledge\, training and/or policies into their organisation. \nThe training is a recognised CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Training. DESCRIPTION:About this Event\n\n\nTo complete this course you will need to have previous Domestic Abuse Awareness training within the last 12 months \nThis training will increase your understanding of the dynamics of Domestic Abuse and how it may be different for older people. It will encourage you to consider how age-related factors may impact a person’s experience of abuse\, the key risk factors for serious harm\, how to address barriers to engagement\, and how to identify and respond to adult safeguarding. \nAt the end of the training participants will be able to: \n\nMake the distinction between elder abuse and Domestic Abuse of older people.\nDevelop an understanding of the barriers older victims face.\nConsider the impact of age upon treatment and referral routes.\n\nThis training is aimed at any professional whose work brings them into contact with adults from the voluntary\, statutory\, and private sectors e.g.\, Professionals who have direct (face to face) or indirect (over the phone) contact. This may include but is not limited to specialist domestic abuse agencies\, refuge staff\, social care\, health workers\, doctors\, PCSOs\, health and social care sector\, voluntary sector\, support workers\, housing officers\, and community leaders. \nThe training is a recognised CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Training. Once completed\, attendees will receive a CPD certificate.

DESCRIPTION:About this Event\n\n\nThe webinar will provide attendees with information and guidance on Domestic Abuse and its interaction with women with No Recourse to Public Funds\, provide a safe space for discussions and provide follow-up information that can be utilised after the training. \nWhat you will learn: \n\nWhat it means to have “no recourse to public funds” and the effects of this on the people it applies to.\nDevelop an understanding of domestic abuse specific to women with no recourse to public funds – definitions\, types of\, who it affects\, and current and emerging legislation.\nUnderstand complex matters such as victims subject to immigration control\, forced marriage and transnational marriage abandonment.\nRisk factors for Domestic Abuse specific to vulnerable groups.\nThe impact of Domestic Abuse on Children\, Young People and Adults at Risk.\nAdditional barriers to seeking help when the victim has no recourse to public funds\, and how to address them.\nLearn about specific local and national resources available to aid support for victims\, including the application process for concession on behalf of another person.\n\nThe training will enable you to better understand the realities and prevalence of domestic abuse and women with no recourse to public funds\, using statistics\, legislation and the government definitions. \nIt explores the nature of domestic abuse and enables you to identify behaviours\, recognise signs and how this behaviour impacts the victim using real life case studies. \nIt explores the effects domestic abuse has on children and identifies the societal myths to understand the barriers that stand in the way of a person leaving an abusive relationship. \nAfter the training you will be able to develop strategies to advocate appropriately for the person who is being subjected to Domestic Abuse and know how to source the appropriate support\, including translation services where needed. \nThis training is most suited to people with a background or general understanding of domestic abuse. \nSome roles that may find this training particularly useful includes: \n\nHealth and social care workers\nIntervention workers.\nRefuge workers including Managers\nIndependent Domestic Violence Advocates (IDVAs)\nFamily Support Workers\nOutreach Workers\nHealthcare professionals\nCouncil officers responsible for developing strategies\, policies and procedures\nOther professionals who advise non-UK nationals\n\nThe training is a recognised CPD (Continuing Professional Development) Training.
