| Domestic Violence Training |
In 2004, The Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act came into effect. This has been described as “The biggest overhaul of Domestic Violence law in 30 years, heralding tough powers for the Police and the Courts to protect victims and prosecute abusers.” We much welcome this progress and, based on over thirty five years’ extensive experience, can now offer a wide range of training packages that address the issues surrounding Domestic Violence. The Haven Wolverhampton works with groups and individuals who engage directly or indirectly with victims and survivors of Domestic Violence. We aim to target workplaces to encourage employers to implement policies to protect and maximise their workforce, thus raising awareness amongst professionals and volunteers alike. An important aspect of dealing with Domestic Violence is raising the level of understanding of the dynamics involved in abusive relationships. This applies not least to women and children who are living, or have lived, with Domestic Violence and are themselves survivors. We aim to help women understand and recognise when there is a pattern of abusive behaviour within their relationships, giving them the tools to take back control of their lives and futures. The objectives of the programme are to:
These aims will be achieved through training. Knowledge and skills will be developed and explored through a series of units and support mechanisms. Integral to each unit is the consideration of social inclusion, diversity and respect. Who is the Training Programme For? This training programme is designed for individuals and organisations who are interested in learning more about Domestic Violence. The training is open to those who work directly or indirectly with those affected by Domestic Violence as well as those who simply wish to gain an understanding and become skilled at recognising the seriousness of this crime.
