Holly Help The Haven this Christmas

This year The Haven Wolverhampton will support up to 53 women and 100 children across our refuge services and many more within the community. The Haven supports children like Zack. Zack came to The Haven Wolverhampton with his mother after witnessing abuse towards his mother and beloved family pet, Charlie.  Although he is now safe, being away from familiar surroundings and home comforts will leave Zack unsure of what to expect this Christmas. Please read a copy of Zack’s Letter here.

There are a number of ways you can support The Haven this Christmas - whether its making a donation to our Christmas Appeal or making a financial contribution to the women and children who will be spending this holiday season in refuge accommodation.

If you aren't able to make a donation this year, why not get involved in one the following:

Christmas Tree Appeal 2011

Instead of sending cards this year why not send your festive greetings using one of our new Christmas Tree Appeal posters. You can display the posters anywhere you like and for a donation of just £1 you can leave a message for your friends and loved ones whilst raising money for The Haven Women's Emergency Fund at the same time.

For more information please contact Kiran on fo2@havenrefuge.org.uk or call 01902 572123

The Mince Pie Challenge

The Mince Pie Challenge is back! Last year 15 hopefulls tried to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest time to eat 3 mince pies. Although we didn't break any records we are confident that 2011 will be our year.

This year we will be attempting a new record - the most mince pies eaten in one minute. The current record is 2 mince pies and was achieved by Catherine Jones, Michael Xuereb and Luke Chilton (all UK) at the offices of Real People magazine in London, UK, on 22 November 2010.

For a donation of just £2 you could be in with the chance of becoming a record breaker. The Mince Pie Challenge will take place on Saturday 17th December at The Mander Shopping Centre, ground floor opposite BHS, from 11pm to 2pm.

Our thanks go to Wolverhampton City College for providing the mince pies.
