Enter The Haven Wolverhamptons T-Shirt Competition

The Haven Wolverhampton is proud to announce the launch of an exciting competition for women and women’s organisations across the European Union (EU) which will help to raise awareness of Domestic Violence on a global level.

The Haven Wolverhampton is asking women from across the EU to strike a pose and ‘get snappy’ by taking photographs of themselves and their colleagues wearing The Haven Wolverhampton ‘Say NO to Domestic Violence’ T-Shirts. Women will then be asked to send their pictures, along with a supporting statement, to The Haven Wolverhampton, where a panel of judges, made up of Haven staff and residents, will award a prize to the entry scoring highest in terms of originality and empowerment. The most imaginative and inventive entry will be awarded with the opportunity to live and work at The Haven Wolverhampton, learn from the experiences of staff and volunteers and witness first-hand the work of one of the largest Domestic Violence refuge providers in the UK.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for one individual who is eager to learn more about Domestic Violence and how support services are provided in Wolverhampton. The City of Wolverhampton is at the forefront of raising awareness about Domestic Violence and demonstrates the advantages of inter-agency working. The Haven Wolverhampton has strong links with organisations who work to support those affected by Domestic Violence including Wolverhampton Police Domestic Abuse Unit, Wolverhampton Specialist Domestic Violence Court, Wolverhampton Domestic Violence Forum, as well as other refuges, support services and voluntary groups.

The winner of this competition will be entitled to free accommodation at The Haven Wolverhampton for one month, support with subsistence costs and travel expenses up to the cost of £400.

To be in with a chance of winning this truly unique prize simply write to publicity@havenrefuge.org.uk with your name and address to request a T-Shirt. Your first T-Shirt is free and any additional T-Shirts are payable at £5.00 (5.50 Euros) each.

To enter the competition you must ensure you meet the following criteria:

• Female
• Current resident within the EU
• Aged 18 or over
• Work or have worked / volunteered for a organisation which supports those affected by Domestic Violence
• A current valid passport

This is your chance to be creative– take your T-shirt anywhere and everywhere – we want to see how you are working to promote awareness about Domestic Violence in the most imaginative way possible.

As soon as you think you may have the winning entry please send your photograph and supporting statement which, in no more than 500 words,  should detail your interests and involvement in the DV sector and why you think you should be the one to come to The Haven Wolverhampton to publicity@havenrefuge.org.uk.  You can also post your entries to The Haven Wolverhampton, PO Box 105, Wolverhampton, United Kingdom, WV1 4LP.

The closing date for applications is Friday 30th April 2010. The successful applicant will be informed by May 2010 with a work placement scheduled at The Haven Wolverhampton for August 2010.
