The Haven Wolverhampton has been named as one of the Mayor of Wolverhampton's Charities of the year The Haven Wolverhampton, alongside two other local charities; Compton Hospice and the Neuro-Rehab Unit of West Park Rehabilitation Hospital, have been chosen to receive funds and donations from various fundraising events organised by the Mayor and Mayoress of Wolverhampton. Numerous fundraising events will take place throughout 2009, both in and out of the Mayoral Suite of Wolverhampton City Council, for the public to take part in. On Monday 20th July, The Haven Wolverhampton welcomed the Mayor and Mayoress of Wolverhampton, Councillor Surjan Singh Duhra and Mrs. Ranbir Kaur Duhra to meet with staff and volunteers and visit one of The Haven's five refuges. “I am very impressed by what I have seen,” said Councillor Surjan Singh Duhra. “The Haven does a tremendous job for those in need, and deserves the support of its citizens. I will be doing my best to raise funds for The Haven and for my other charities through various events which will be taking place throughout my year in office.” The Haven is extremely grateful to the Mayor for raising awarenss of the needs of vulnerable women and children and we look forward to working with him throughout this coming year.
