Domestic Violence and the issue of homelessness which can result from it is a complex issue. Providing women with a safe place to live is not enough to connect them with mainstream society as living in a refuge can create huge barriers to learning.
The Haven Wolverhampton believes that free, safe access to Information Technology will give women realistic tools to start new lives. The Haven Wolverhampton is always looking for innovative ways to empower women and give them the confidence they need to move forward. We aim to give women some of these tools through the opportunity to access IT through our own Information Technology suite. We hope that this opportunity will promote self confidence and self esteem in the women, improve their knowledge of Information Technology and also develop their interest in further learning.
We are currently developing the suite and need support with various items to finish the room; office chairs, IT equipment of any sort, paper etc. We would also appreciate help and advice from any tutors who would be willing to donate some of their time.

Upcoming Events
The Haven Wolverhampton International Conference entitled ‘Improving Futures: Working Together to End Domestic Violence – New Solutions for a New World’ will be held on Monday 9th March 2009 at The Light House, Fryer Street, Wolverhampton. The Conference is being held during International Women’s Week 2009 and will mark the progress that has been made in tackling Domestic Violence over the past 35 years.
The Conference will feature guest speakers from across the globe who will deliver presentations on varying approaches to dealing with Domestic Violence offering their opinions, perspectives and proposals on the latest research on rebuilding the lives of those affected by this crime. Speakers include Professor Liz Kelly from London Metropolitan University, Casey Gwin and Gael Strack from the Family Justice Centre Alliance USA and many more.
