Summer Appeal 2009
This summer, The Haven Wolverhampton will accommodate and take care of up to 100 children in the various Haven refuges across the City.
Every year The Haven Wolverhampton produces a summer play programme which includes outings and activities to keep the children active and engaged. We have a range of indoor and outdoor activities planned including art and craft workshops, book clubs and outings to leisure centres, theme parks and museums.
In order for us to implement this programme we need your help! We appeal to you to provide donations of games, toys or tickets to local attractions, as well as financial support to the children who are living in temporary accommodation. Your support helps to provide a safe, stable and fun environment for those children working to re-build their lives after Domestic Violence.
If you would like to make a donation to the appeal please call 01902 572140 or write to info@havenrefuge.org.uk
Children & Young People’s Service

Cookery Class
The last four months have been very busy, no sooner had we recovered from Christmas, than the February half term was upon us. As usual there were lots of activities provided for the children of The Haven Wolverhampton, including Art & Crafts and cookery. All of the children of School age are all in School and being supported by The Haven Wolverhampton’s Family Education Support Worker. Homework sessions are delivered and Mums are encouraged to join in these sessions to strengthen the bonds with their children.
Workshops for Mothers have been extended and now include ‘Drug Awareness’ and ‘How to keep your child safe on line’. Both workshop topics have been requested by the Mothers, and will be delivered to share information for all age ranges.

Play Room
At Easter all of the children received Easter Eggs that had been kindly donated to The Haven Wolverhampton from various individuals and organisations across the City.
The Children’s Service provided a broad range of activities throughout the Easter holidays including several outdoor sessions with a bouncy castle which was enjoyed by children and mothers alike.

Mayor’s Charity
The Haven Wolverhampton has been chosen as one of the Mayor’s Charities for 2009!
The Mayor of Wolverhampton has chosen us to receive funds and donations from various fundraising events which will take place throughout the year. We look forward to reporting on this more in the next edition of the newsletter.
Egg-cellent

Easter Egg Donations
A HUGE thank you to all those who donated Easter eggs to the women and children of The Haven Wolverhampton.
Over 300 eggs were donated and distributed amongst the women and children in refuge, as well as those accessing our Floating Support, Advocacy and Counselling Services.
The eggs were very well received and plans to run egg hunting activities, competitions and cooking sessions will ensure that eggs are put to good use right through the summer months
Thank You
