Specialist Support

 

The Haven Wolverhampton offers support to women from Black Minority & Ethic backgrounds in refuge and in the community. A number of Haven workers are able to speak a variety of community languages and are able to assist with:

 
bullet point Advocating / Interpreting / Translating
bullet point Understanding cultural problems and issues;
bullet point Information on Welfare, Rights & Immigration;
bullet point Structured classes, e.g. - crafts, cooking, DIY skills
bullet point Accessing legal and practical advice
bullet point Contacting various local services including Solicitors and GP's

Specialist support is also available for women with complex needs. Pearl House is a specialisit refuge which supports women and children affected by ill mental health as a result of Domestic Violence.

The Haven also employs a Family Support Worker - Alcohol Lead who is able to provide intensive support to women with alcohol and/or substance misuse issues.
