Housing and Welfare Benefits Support

Many women who access The Haven require support with Housing and Welfare Benefits. The Haven thus provides a Housing and Welfare Benefits Advice Service for all those who access The Haven's Services. Our Housing and Welfare Benefits specialist assists women with a wide variety of issues.
 
These include:
bullet point Checking individual entitlement to DWP Benefits.
bullet point Assisting in the completion of claim forms.
bullet point Requesting reviews or appealing against DWP decisions.
bullet point Representation at DWP tribunals.
bullet point Assisting with applications for Social Fund Loans and Community Care grants.
bullet point Imparting skills on budgeting and debt management.
bullet point Advice and assistance in securing permanent accommodation.
bullet point Advice with rent and council tax arrears.
bullet point Requesting reviews or appealing against Council/Housing Association decisions.
bullet point Access to relevant welfare benefit/ housing related agencies.
 
The Housing and Welfare Benefits Advice Service is essential in meeting the needs of these women. It provides one-to-one support for all women resident at The Haven Wolverhampton, and also provides support for non-resident clients.
 
To ensure we can provide accurate information and quality support, we have developed strong links with Housing Associations, the Social Fund Section of the DWP, and the Homeless Services and Housing Benefit Section of the local Council. Our staff attend training on Housing Issues on a regular basis.
