For the last ten years The Haven Wolverhampton has worked with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil society organisations (CSOs) around the world to strengthen their capacity to support women and children victims of violence and abuse. The Haven Wolverhampton has delivered both short and long-term training programmes to professionals from Russia, Uzbekistan, India and Saudi Arabia in order to raise awareness of the needs of women and children who have suffered domestic violence and /or homelessness.
The Haven Wolverhampton has developed long-term partnerships with The Crisis Centre “Ekaterina” (Russia) and the Socio-Economic Development Centre, SABR (Uzbekistan). Together we have delivered a number of successful projects. This work has helped to create networks of social partnerships between NGOs, local authorities, police, criminal justice system and business communities. NGO staff and volunteers from these organisations have received training capacity building, networking, social research, campaigning and lobbying to improve the effectiveness of the NGOs in advising, representing and promoting rights of women on local, regional and national levels.
The Haven Wolverhampton has also hosted a number of volunteering placements from Western and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. Read about other international work.

Services can be delivered in the UK or abroad. The Haven will support visitors to the UK with guidance on how to plan a unique visit to the UK which will combine a training programme and cultural tour where guests will have the opportunity to learn about the country through excursions and events.
Training Programmes
The Haven Wolverhampton Training Team delivers National Open College Network (NOCN) accredited programmes on Domestic Violence and related topics. Modules include: Domestic Violence Awareness / Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence through the Criminal Justice System / Domestic Violence and Mental Health / Diversity, Sexual Exploitation and Domestic Violence Support Services and Structures / Working with Children / Policies, Procedures and Working Practices Supporting Survivors of Domestic Violence / Domestic Violence and Disability / Skills for Good Working Practice. The Haven Wolverhampton can develop and deliver bespoke training programmes to suit the needs of International Stakeholders. The programmes will consist of a series of training sessions, lectures and workshops, meetings with staff, visits to hostels and external agencies.
Conference and Events
The Haven Wolverhampton organises International Conferences and events bringing together civil society representatives, NGOs, donors, policy makers and academics from around the world. Haven staff present at International events and also support with International exchanges.
Research
The Haven Wolverhampton has experience of conducting research in the field of Domestic Violence in partnership with academics from UK and abroad. The Haven Wolverhampton has the capacity to help an International Charity to identify and access resources in the UK, develop methodology and arrange contact with academics in order to support the development of research and policy to influence how victims of Domestic Violence are supported in their country.
Consultancy
The Haven Wolverhampton can also deliver consultancy and bespoke training covering the different aspects of setting up and running a charity: Strategic Planning / Roles and Responsibilities of Board Members / Human Resource Management and Workforce Development / Developing systems for accountability: monitoring and evaluation / Project design, planning and implementation / Fundraising / Running a hostel for women and children / Rent management / Development of professional standards and learning resources

Programmes implemented by The Haven Wolverhampton take a long-term proactive approach. This partnership approach is central to our role of supporting other civil society organisations in order to address inequalities and violence against women.
Wolverhampton Global Partnership
The Haven Wolverhampton has been actively involved in the Mayors’ initiative “Wolverhampton – the City in the Global Village” – forum which brings together The City Council, University, College, Community/Voluntary sector and Business sector organisation who develop International links and organise International Activities within Wolverhampton. The forum, officially titled Wolverhampton Global Partnership is developing a package of support for businesses, organisations and individuals who are looking to locate to, study in, or visit the City.
